Maxi Kleber gets along better and better with the Dallas Mavericks. In the past four games, the Würzburg player was even allowed to start. Coach Rick Carlisle was very impressed by the performance of the German and explicitly praised the Power Forward.
“He gives us rebounding and defensive flexibility,”Carlisle told the Dallas Morning News,”We know exactly what he can do for us. His minutes are very productive and can also switch in defense.”
A real knightly accolade for Kleber, because Carlisle is known for the fact that rookies actually get little chance with him. At the moment, however, Kleber does not even play in his preferred position. The Wuerzburger is mainly used on Small Forward so that Harrison Barnes can slide onto the four.
At the moment we are missing some players, so I have to help out a little on Small Forward. I’m a team player.”
The Mavs are now at 2-2 when Kleber was in the starting lineup. Only the threesome won’t fall yet. Of his 14 attempts at downtown, Kleber sunk only two throws. In his 13 appearances, Kleber has so far achieved 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds with a field throw rate of 48.7 percent.
