The Minnesota Vikings are well on their way to securing one of the two top seeds in the NFC after their victory over Detroit on Thanksgiving. Nevertheless, the quarterback question still floats above the team – and head coach Mike Zimmer leaves all doors open.
When asked by a journalist on Friday whether he would continue to evaluate the quarterback situation from week to week, Zimmer replied according to the Star Tribune:”Case will start next week, yes.”
It’s a complicated situation in Minnesota. Keenum plays very well at the moment and perfectly implements the excellent offense schemes. Of course he doesn’t act flawlessly, but the offense around the spectacular receiver duo consisting of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs is dominated by opponents.
Behind him is Teddy Bridgewater, who after his serious knee injury is fit again and is an absolute fan favourite in Minnesota. The dilemma: Bridgewater has more talent than Keenum, but no one knows what condition he is in after the injury and the long break – also seen from a perspective point of view. But since his contract expires, just like Keenum and Sam Bradford’s, the Vikes will have to make a decision sooner or later.
Zimmer also had some praise for Keenum:”I think he sees the field well. He can move easily and uses this also for scrambles. Keenum is one of the best quarterbacks in the league in percentage terms when it comes to not taking a sack in spite of pressure.
