Handball: THW Supervisory Board strengthens coach Gislason’s back

Regardless of the fluctuating sporting achievements, the Supervisory Board of German handball record holder THW Kiel unanimously declared its support for further cooperation with coach Alfred Gislason – at least until the end of the contract term 2019.

This was confirmed by Reinhard Ziegenbein, chairman of the five-member supervisory board, in an interview with Kieler Nachrichten.

“The coach is not in question. There is no reason for us to think about a change,”the 61-year-old told the newspaper. Kiel are only in eighth place in the Bundesliga, but they managed to beat Belarusian champions Mezhkov Brest in the Champions League on Sunday to a safe 33-23 victory.

According to Ziegenbein, even though the qualification for the royal class 2018/19 is in danger, he does not claim to be sleepless:”It would hit us, but it wouldn’t kill us and wouldn’t affect our plans.”
