Biathlon: Biathlon World Federation suspends Russian women

The International Biathlon Union IBU has temporarily suspended the Russian women Olga Wiluchina and Jana Romanova, who were suspended from the Olympic Games by the IOC for the rest of their lives. The two silver medal winners of the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi are not allowed to attend any IBU-competition in any function. Wiluchina and Romanova have already finished their active careers.

The FIS, on the other hand, has so far refrained from suspending the Russian cross-country skiers, who were subject to lifelong suspensions by the IOC in the wake of the state doping scandal. Thus, for example, Olympic champion Alexander Legkow is expected to compete in the Lillehammer World Cup this weekend, while his team mates Maxim Wylegschanin and Jewgeni Below were already at the start last weekend in Kuusamo.
