Russia’s athletes want to take legal action against their lifelong Olympic barriers by the Oswald Commission of the IOC. On Tuesday, the athletes announced their visit to the CAS International Sports Court in Lausanne.

“What happens now is a terrible injustice. Other athletes have already said a lot about it, they just want to scream,”said biathlete Yana Romanova to the Russian news agency Tass and explained:”We will definitely appeal to CAS.”

In addition to Romanova, who had won silver with the relay at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, team mate Olga Viluchina (also second in the sprint), bobsleigh drivers Alexei Negodailo and Dimitrij Trunenkov (both in the gold medal) and skeleton driver Sergei Chudinov (5th) were banned for life.

According to the Oswald Commission, the athletes have violated the anti-doping guidelines massively. The convictions are based above all on the findings of special investigator Richard McLaren and leniency witness Grigory Rodchenkov.
