Ski Jumping: How Diethart is doing after the heavy fall

The health of ski jumper Thomas Diethart improved a day after the fall of the ski jumper on Thursday. However, the Lower Austrian remains in hospital for the time being in the Schladming deaconess hospital. The Four Hills Tour 2013/14 had lost control of the training in Ramsau on Wednesday and had crashed onto the front porch.

“Thomas Diethart’s condition is still stable and the first signs of improvement are already visible,”explained the primary physician Christian Kaulfersch.”The first 24 hours after such an accident are always a critical phase, which Thomas has already survived well,” The follow-up examinations with computer tomography and ultrasound would show that both bruises and bleeding are declining.

The 25-year-old Diethart had suffered a severe concussion and slight bleeding to the brain, a pulmonary contusion, severe abrasions and a laceration in the face. He had been briefly unconscious after the incident. Kaulfersch:”The most important thing now is that Thomas gets a lot of rest so that he can recover optimally.”
