DEL: Berlin expands lead in the standings, Nuremberg patches again

Eisbären Berlin have also taken advantage of the next slip-up in the Nuremberg Ice Tigers and extended their lead in the DEL. Berlin prevailed on Friday evening at the Iserlohn Roosters with 3:1 (0:1,0:0,3:0) and is now at the top with 58 points.

Nuremberg, still leading the standings at the beginning of the week, lost their second consecutive defeat against Schwenninger Wild Wings 4:5 (1:2,1:1,2:1,0:1) after extra time.

Red Bull Munich also took advantage of this. The German champion won 4:3 (2:1,1:1,1:1) against the Augsburg Panthers and is only three points behind Nuremberg with 52 points.

Grizzly’s Wolfsburg (46), who lost 3:4 (2:2,0:1,1:1) to the Mannheim eagles, will follow with some distance.

The Cologne sharks continued their upward trend under their new coach Peter Draisaitl and won the Krefeld Penguins 2-0 (0-0,1-0,1-0,1-0). After the third victory in a row, Cologne (39 points) took eighth place.

At the same time, the Duesseldorf EC is on top of the field, winning 5-2 (1-0,2-1,2-1,2-1) at the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven.

The ERC Ingolstadt (36) had to surprises his home crowd with a 3:6 (0:1,2:1,1:4) defeat of Straubing Tigers.
