Handball: DHB membership figures stable for the first time since 2009

With 756,907 members, DHB is still the largest handball association in the world. For the first time since 2009, the number of members has remained almost unchanged compared to the previous year, and the DHB remains the seventh largest association in Germany. This was announced by the DHB on Friday.

“The fact that our membership figures have stabilised is very good news,”said Mark Schober, Chairman of the DHB Board of Directors:”We have won over both boys and girls, especially in the age groups up to 14 years. This is a tangible effect of the Bad Boys’ European Championship title in January 2016.”

The association has recently lost members, and the number is expected to rise to over 800,000 by 2020. Last year the DHB had 756,987 members, compared to 847,406 in 2009.
