MLB: Brothers extends Braves contract

The Atlanta Braves have reached an unguaranteed one-year contract with left-hander Rex Brothers. Previously, the team had not taken its option for 2018.

Brothers would have been eligible for salary arbitration after the option expired and he is still under team control.

The deal is so split up that Brothers would earn $1.1 million if he spent the entire season on the MLB team. If he lands in the Minors, his salary is 450,000 dollars.

Brothers was 4-3 with a 7.23 ERA in 27 games of the past season. The Reliever collected 33 strikeouts over 23 2/3 innings. In six seasons he is 20-14 with a 3.76 ERA and 20 Saves. He has been playing for the Braves since early 2017, after signing a minor league contract.
