Winter Sports: Tobogganing: Third victory in the fourth race for Eggert/Benecken

The luge world champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken have also confirmed their exceptional position among the two-seaters at the second home World Cup in Altenberg.

The duo from Ilsenburg and Suhl celebrated their third victory in the fourth race of the season at the 2012 World Championship track in the Ore Mountains and further extended their lead in the overall World Cup in the Olympic Winter.

Behind the Austrians Peter Penz/Georg Fischler Robin Geueke and David Gamm (Winterberg) finished third. The Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt (Berchtesgaden/Königssee) had to settle for fourth place.

Previously, Eggert/Benecken had also won the World Cup races in Innsbruck-Igls and Winterberg. Only in the Winterberg sprint did the world champions have to settle for second place.

On Saturday (11.55/13.35 o’ clock) the one-seater team around Olympic champion Felix Loch will also take part in the action. The women only start on Sunday (10.00/11.20) before the relay race (13.10).
