Olympia: Doping offender Taymasow and Chernova fail at CAS

The wrestling Olympic champion Artur Taymasow from Uzbekistan, who was convicted of doping, must finally return his gold medal from 2008. The International Sports Court CAS confirmed the disqualification by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Taymasov won gold for the second time in a row in Beijing in the 120 kg category. Triumph number three followed in London. Taymasov’s victory in China was the result of new methods of detection of Turinabol, anabolic steroid classics from the former GDR, and Stanozolol – the anabolic steroid gained tragic fame in 1988 with the case of Ben Johnson.

Russian Transylvanian Tatyana Chernova also failed in her appeal against the disqualification of her bronze medal in Beijing before the CAS. The anabolic steroid Turinabol had also been found in her body.
