Handball: Women’s World Cup: Biegler nominates Bölk after

The “Wunderkind” joins the World Cup team: German national coach Michael Biegler has re-nominated the 19-year-old exceptional talent Emily Bölk for the home world championship of the German women’s handball team and thus completed the 16-strong squad.

The backroom player from Bundesliga club Buxtehuder SV, who was last in the doldrums, will be able to enter the tournament against Serbia on Tuesday evening.

“I’m happy to finally be able to stand on the record and that it’s finally starting for me,”Bölk told SID. In the past few days, she had been sitting “like on hot coals”.

Bölk had to pause for a match in the first two games against Cameroon and South Korea due to a foot injury suffered in World Cup training. For a long time it was uncertain when the teenager could go on goal hunting at the World Cup. With her physical presence and the tough second row throws, Bölk is already one of the team’s top performers who are aiming for a medal in their own country.
