Olympic Games 2026: Steel new Swiss President of the OC 2026

The Swiss Organising Committee for the bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2026 has a new chairman. Former Vice President Jürg Stahl will take over the post of Jean-Philippe Rochat, who will no longer be available for the next phase of the Olympic candidacy. This was announced by the Swiss Olympic Association on Wednesday.

“I am pleased to be able to devote myself to this extraordinary project. It is a very special effort for Switzerland,”said Stahl.

The 49-year-old has been President of the Swiss Olympic Association since November 2016 and has been a member of the Swiss Parliament since 1999. In addition to his political commitment, the native of Zurich will devote himself fully to the candidature. Stahl therefore terminated its employment as a member of the management of an insurance company.
