Olympics: Russia wants to take its time to respond to IOC judgement after exclusion

The Russian government sees a first reaction to the International Olympic Committee’s verdict on a boycott of the Winter Games in Pyeongchang (9. till 25. February).

“The situation is serious, it requires a deep analysis. It would be wrong to give in to emotions here,”said Dimitri Peskov, spokesman for President Vladimir Putin. Putin’s reaction is expected on Wednesday.

On Tuesday evening, the IOC had excluded Russia from the games in South Korea because of the doping scandal, but allowed Russian athletes to start as “Olympic athletes of Russia” under certain conditions.
