Biathlon: Dahlmeier to world championship hype:”No, I can’t even go fast now”.

Laura Dahlmeier is the crowd around her person after the five World Cup titles in February sometimes too big. Since the historic triumph, she has sometimes felt like a piece of common property.

“Yes, I have to say that. Some people are extremely reserved, hardly daring to approach me. Then there are others who take hold of you immediately. It is difficult for me personally to draw a line and say that I allow so much to happen,”said the 24-year-old before her World Cup entry in the Austrian Hochfilzen, the Heilbronn voice.

The phrase “Laura can you please times fast” is really brutal. I hear it very, very often – and I have to be hard-core and say:’ No, I can’t even go fast now’ – and if 60 people say that, it’s also an hour and it’s just missing,”said Dahlmeier. She’s trying to be “myself. I am who I am. The most important thing is that I can still be that.”

All the attention is, she added,”an insane honor. I have many invitations, there are requests from sponsors, but everyday life does not necessarily make it any easier. “It’s harder to concentrate on the essentials and get the time right.”

Dahlmeier starts the World Cup season in Hochfilzen. At the start in Östersund she was missing because of a cold.

Last year’s season described it as “a dream winter, it just couldn’t get any better. The time at the World Championships in Hochfilzen was like a little winter fairy tale. However, this persecutes you for a longer time because you are constantly being addressed and confronted with the past. That makes it harder to focus on the new season – and it’s starting from scratch again,”she said.
