Anthony Joshua can imagine a duel against WBA World Champion Manuel Charr:”Why not?”, the British heavyweight champion told SID.
“There are a lot of people who want to challenge me. If I had the opportunity to fight him, it would be something I would take very seriously.”
Joshua is World Champion of IBF and at the same time Superchampion of the WBA. A title superior to that of Charr. Recently, WBC World Champion Deontay Wilder (USA) played down the meaning of Charr’s belt. In November, the Cologne Charr won the WBA title against Alexander Ustinov from Russia and caused a sensation with a posse for a missing German passport.
Joshua, who won all of his 20 professional fights in the UK early, is also open to a fight in Germany:”I was there for a press conference with Vladimir Klitschko and it was very well received. Maybe we can do it again sometime. And Klitschko would come over and promote the fight. Maybe against a charr.”
For 2018, however, Joshua is aiming for a title union with the other world champions Joseph Parker (New Zealand/WBO) and Wilder. Especially the also undisputed savage (38 K. o.) in 39 fights) had recently pressed vehemently for a fight against Joshua.
“It could happen next year. The chances are good. But one thing at a time,”said Joshua, who took the Wilders provocations lightly:”Of course he says that. He wouldn’t tell the public he’s losing. But it’s not that simple.”
