NBA: Media: Sixers send Jahlil Okafor to the Nets via trade

The farce around Jahlil Okafor seems to be finished. The Philadephia 76ers seem to have reached an agreement with the Brooklyn Nets on a trade and even add something to it.

ESPN insider Zach Lowe reports that the sixers send Okafor to New York in a package with Shooter Nik Stauskas and a second round pick in 2019. In return, they receive Forward Trevor Booker.

Okafor was drafted by the Sixers in third place in 2015. After a promising start to his rookie season, however, he fell more and more out of favour. For example, as a result of the rise of Joel Embiid, Okafor was no longer relevant as a Big Man. Most recently, he had not even made it into the rotation and repeatedly publicly demanded a trade or buyout.

This wish has now been granted to him. Embiid already confirmed the deal and told us that he had already wished Okafor good luck. But he also made it clear that he would kick his ass in direct duels.

Okafor is still in his rookie contract, and by 2018 he will become an Unrestricted Free Agent. Stauskas can be made Restricted Free Agent in the same year. Booker, who now earns his living in Philly, is still entitled to $9.1 million in the current season before his contract ends. For the Nets he played 10.1 points and 6.6 rebounds this season.
