NHL: billionaire buys Carolina Hurricanes

Billionaire Tom Dundon becomes new majority shareholder of the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL. This was announced by the club.

According to US media reports, the 46-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has acquired 52 percent of the shares of the long-standing owner Peter Karmanos. The 74-year-old therefore retains 48 percent.

It is not known what sum the entrepreneur Dundon has to pay. In the past, Karmanos had named 500 million dollars as the price. The new owner has signed a purchase agreement and has made it clear that the club will not move and will continue to play in Raleigh.

“I look forward to continuing what Peter Karmanos started in Raleigh,”said Dundon,”the hurricanes are on the upswing, we can take the franchise to the next level.”
