NBA: Lou Williams kills the Wizards

The LA Clippers were able to beat the Washington Wizards with 113:112, also because the captains still had to give up John Wall. Danilo Gallinari put in a respectable performance in the second game after his buttocks injury, while Lou Williams transformed the game winner in the familiar manner.

Danilo Gallinari had made his comeback against the Minnesota Timberwolves and was also in focus against the Wizards, because the Clippers had to do without Blake Griffin. With a solid 8-19, the Italian player scored 25 points with a solid score of 8-19 points, and thus played a part in the victory against the wizards, who had to live without their top star John Wall. Clippers’ top scorer, however, was once again the sixth-man Lou Williams, who scored a total of 35 points – including the game winner.

At the beginning of the game, however, the offense was to run through DeAndre Jordan, who was looked for several times in the Low Post to distribute the balls from there. The success was clearly limited: after four minutes the clippers had no point, but already three turnovers. The wizards use this with a 10:0 run. As a result, the Clippers came into play better and better: Williams started his scoring punch as usual and Gallinari also got going.

The Wizards went into the break 13 points behind, as Bradley Beal in particular fell short of expectations. The Shooting Guard scored only two points in the first half, but ran hot in the second half and ended up with 25 points. Meanwhile, the best scorer of the capitals was Otto Porter, who played 27 points (10-16 FG) and a double double with 11 rebounds. Both made sure that the Clippers could start into the last quarter with a gap of only four points (8 points in the last 95 seconds of the third section).

In crunch time, both teams were equal before Mike Scott (22 points, 8 rebounds) took the lead with seven consecutive points to his wizards 90 seconds before the end of the game with 107:103. Tomas Satoransky threw two free throws for the wizards at four points, so the Clippers stayed in the game.

It was dramatic: 15 seconds before the end DJ had an offensive rebound on Austin Rivers – Triple of Downtown! Beal showed his whole class, however, pulled coldly to the basket and transformed the layout – plus foull. After he turned the free-throw into a 112:110 for the guests, the clips had only a few seconds left. The ball went naturally into the hands of Williams, who hit the Iso-Three in his usual calm manner to 113:112.
