Tobogganing: Huefner wins in Calgary – Geisenberg third place

Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger suffered a defeat at the World Cup in Calgary against her permanent rival Tatjana Huefner. The world champion from Blankenburg won on the 1988 Olympic track ahead of local hero Alex Gough.

Geisenberger, who had already won three races of the season before, only ended up in third place after the first race, despite her lead.

In the fight for the third Olympic ticket, Dajana Eitberger achieved a partial success against her rival Julia Taubitz, who finished eleventh. The third starting place for the games in Pyeongchang will be awarded after the World Cup in Lake Placid next week.

Olympic champion Felix Loch in Calgary had already proved his top form on the previous day with his third victory of the season.

Johannes Ludwig, Andi Langenhan and Ralf Palik had completed a good result for the BSD in places five, six and seven.

In the double-seaters, world champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken had already clinched their fourth victory in the fifth race of the Olympic Winter.
