Boxing: Swedish boxing pro after brain haemorrhage and emergency surgery in an artificial coma

The Swedish professional Erik Skoglund from the German boxing stable Sauerland is in an artificial coma after a brain haemorrhage in training in Nyköping. The EU-Champion in the light heavyweight had complained about being unwell during the sparring on Friday and was immediately taken to a hospital.

There, the doctors diagnosed a blood clot, performed an emergency operation and then put the 26-year-old into deep sleep.

The Sauerland Promotion explained on its homepage:”The next three to four days are decisive for his recovery. During this time, we ask everyone to respect the privacy of Erik and his family. We will release further information when it becomes available.”
