Handball: France and Montenegro in the World Cup quarter-finals

Former world champions France and Montenegro were the first teams to reach the quarter-finals at the Women’s Handball World Championships.

The European Championship third place went to France, defeating Hungary 29-26 (14-11) in Leipzig, while the World Cup eighth place went to Montenegro in Magdeburg with a surprising 31-29 (14-9) win over Serbia.

The Serbs had decided the German group of preliminary rounds for themselves.

France and Montenegro will meet in Leipzig on Tuesday (20.30) for the quarter-finals.
