NFL: $2.5 billion for Verizon deal

The NFL has made a mega-deal. The managers of the most popular American sport concluded a five-year contract with the telecommunications giant Verizon worth around $2.5 billion.

Verizon, most recently placed in the top 20 of the world’s 20 largest companies with annual sales of $126 billion, received the rights to broadcast NFL games on its own Internet portals and mobile devices.

“Of course, people want to continue watching the games on the best possible screen, the television,” said NFL media chief Hans Schroeder,”but this deal makes sense for the young fans who are always on the move.
