Tour de France: UCI: Tour winner Froome with positive doping test

Four-time Tour de France winner Christopher Froome was tested positively for doping in his Vuelta triumph in September. This was officially announced by the World Cycling Federation UCI on Wednesday.

Accordingly, an increased concentration of the asthma drug salbutamol was found in the 32-year-old’s urine sample during the tour of Spain. The B-sample confirmed the result of the A-sample.

Salbutamol is an agent which may be used in the case of a corresponding proof of disease with UCI approval, but only at a maximum concentration of 1000 nanograms per millilitre.

In Froome’s rehearsal from 7. September 2000 nanogram. Initially, the UCI refrained from a suspension, but first of all wanted to obtain further information.
