The logos for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games were unveiled at a ceremony in Beijing. Both are inspired by Chinese calligraphy.

“The logo combines Chinese culture with the passion, energy and power of winter sports,”said Cai Qi, President of the Organizing Committee. The Chinese government received 4500 designs from designers before the logo was selected.

The presentation in the capital was attended by numerous former Chinese Olympic athletes, star pianist Lang Lang Lang and actor Jackie Chan.

The event took place in the “Water Cube”, swimming arena of the Summer Games 2008. IOC President Thomas Bach addressed the organizers by video message. Beijing will make history, said the head of the International Olympic Committee. The metropolis is the first city to host both summer and winter games.
