Snowboard: First World Cup victory for Alexander Payer

Snowboarder Alexander Payer celebrated his world cup premiere success in the Cortina d’ Ampezzo parallel giant slalom on Friday. In the second race of the Olympic season, the Carinthian ensured the first ÖSV victory. The 28-year-old won the grand final against Roland Fischnaller from South Tyrol. Third place went to the Frenchman Sylvain Dufour.

While in the men’s singles no other Austrian made it into the top ten, Claudia Riegler was third in front of Sabine Schöffmann to secure the women’s second podium place. Ina Meschik had also landed in third place in Carezza the day before, but in Cortina she did not exceed 26th place. As on Friday, the victory went to Czech Ester Ledecka. On Saturday, parallel slaloms will take place in Cortina.
