Alpine Skiing: Vonn celebrates 78.

After a disappointing season, Lindsey Vonn has won the first World Cup in the Olympic Winter.

In the French Val d’ Isere, the 33-year-old American won the first of two planned Super G races, ahead of Sofia Goggia from Italy (+0.31 seconds) and Ragnhild Mowinkl from Norway (+0.39).

Viktoria Rebensburg finished seventh (+0.88) after a good interim period and a serious mistake. With her 78. Vonn has come a step closer to the record of Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark (86).
