Ice Hockey: U20 World Championships: German juniors miss their ascent

The German ice hockey juniors missed their promotion at the U20 World Championships in France. The team of national coach Christian Künast lost 0:1 (0:0,0:1,0:0,0:0:0) to Latvia in the final game and slipped to third place in the standings.

Only the winner of the so called “Division I, Group A” will be promoted to the “Top Division”.

Latvia (12 points) leads ahead of Kazakhstan and the German team (both 10). If the Kazakhs win against hosts France in the evening, they also win the tournament.

The team of the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB) had relegated from the top league in January 2015.
