NBA: Triple Overtime!

The Oklahoma City Thunder (14-14) have won an incredible 119:117 at the Philadelphia 76ers. After it looked like the guests could easily win for a long time, the Sixers celebrated a late comeback. That’s how things went into extra time, with Russell Westbrook and Joel Embiid having a great duel.

In the not so young season there has never been a game with more than one extra time. This spectacular duel put an end to it – with three extra game times!

Initially, Carmelo Anthony played a big part in the fact that OKC was leading almost the entire first half (55:47 to break tea), meanwhile even with 17 points. But Joel Embiid and JJ. Redick made sure the Sixers were able to fight their way back up. At the beginning of the last quarter, the gap was 4 points.

Nevertheless, it looked as though the Thunders could swing the thing home thanks to individual needle stitches, and they expanded their lead by a double-digit percentage. Leading by Embiid – who fought his way through the crunchtime despite his back problems and fired up the crowd with trash talk against Melo – the Sixers started an 11:0 run and equalled 53 seconds before the end to 94:94. Afterwards no more basket fell, Paul George left the possible winner of the game. Extension!

In this one Embiid provided the first Sixers tour of the evening. OKC, for its part, recovered from a bad phase and equalized 42 seconds before OT-ending. This time Philly missed the winner of the game in the person of Dario Saric, so there was a second overtime.

It got wild there when Andre Roberson moved a layup two seconds before the end. But the Refs missed a clear foul. Nevertheless, there was the last attack after a time-out on the other side, there were still 1.2 seconds on the clock. But the 76s didn’t come to an end – extension number three!

Now it was Westbrook himself who took responsibility. But the Sixers stayed on again, and Embiid Russ blocked a second time spectacularly. But it didn’t help at all: 9 seconds before the end Roberson hit a rider to Westbrook-Pass. That should have been it, because Patrick Patterson blocked a Redick threesome.

So the spectacle really came to an end. Westbrook (52 minutes) of course had a triple double on his account (27 points, 18 rebounds, 15 assists), Paul George and Melo played 24 points each. Embiid came in for a 49-minute carreer high. With 34 points he was the top scorer of the game, but he forced some actions too much. J.J. Redick collected 19 points, Ben Simmons scored 12 and 11 rebounds.

Sixers vs. Thunder: This way to the BOXSCORE!

Russell Westbrook. First of all: 10/33 hits from the field are – cautiously speaking – unfavorable. But in the end it didn’t matter, because he found his rhythm at the right time and even hit Dreier. His 18 boards were the best value of the game. In addition, he was anything but obstinate in the overtimes and played good passes – including the one on Roberson who won the game.

Even if, for example, Covington, with his odds, offers:”This game doesn’t deserve a flop!

Billy Donovan just changed a lot in the overtimes. He used his or the opponent’s time-outs to send either a strong offensive or a strong defensive into the field. Roberson in particular swung back and forth between the bench and the floor. During the last Possession of the Sixers, he and Patrick Patterson were on the record together. Both were involved in the last play of the Sixers and made sure that Redick’s threesome was blocked.
