Ski Alpin: Vonn wins first Super-G of Val d’ Isere

Lindsey Vonn wins the first Super-G in Val d’ Isere. Nicole Schmidhofer will be the best Austrian in fourth place.

The shortened race was marked by numerous interruptions due to snowfall and poor visibility. Outside of the ideal line, too, the many new snowfalls slowed down the runners. Vonn made the quickest way down, ahead of Sofia Goggia (+0.31) from Italy and Ragnhild Mowinckel from Norway (+0.39).

Tamara Tippler (14th), Anna Veith (15th) and Ricarda Haaser (17th) missed the top 10. Cornelia Hütter, who started with number one, found a good line at first. Shortly before the finish, however, things got tricky for them. She was too late, got too far into the deep snow in a left turn and could hardly avoid a fall. However, the resignation could no longer be prevented.
