Alpine Skiing: Giant slalom in Alta Badia: Luitz apparently injured

Stefan Luitz apparently injured himself at the World Cup giant slalom in Alta Badia. The 25-year-old Allgäuer retired in the first round after only nine seconds of driving after being hit by a blow.

Luitz crossed the finish line himself, but kept his left knee there. He was supervised by DSV Alpine Director Wolfgang Maier, who made a caring phone call.

“It’s different from a cruciate ligament rupture, he doesn’t believe it’s a cruciate ligament rupture,”Maier said. Luitz knows what he is talking about after a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee in 2013:”He simply has pain, the knee is muscularly completely closed. But I really can’t say any more,”said Maier, referring to the upcoming investigations.

The German Ski Association already has to cope with Felix Neureuther’s Olympic outing, which had to be operated on after a torn cruciate ligament. Luitz was hoping for a medal at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang (9th place) with good results, including two podium finishes. till 25. February) nourished.
