Cycling: Anti-doping movement calls on Team Sky to Froome suspension

The Movement for Clean Cycling (MPCC) has asked Team Sky to voluntarily suspend four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome until his positive doping test has been cleared.

This would prevent tensions between drivers and managers, the organisation said.

The MPCC is an association of 43 teams that have agreed to immediately exclude a driver in the fight against doping on a voluntary basis after the announcement of a positive sample. However, Team Sky is not a member of this association.

Froome was conspicuous during his triumph at the Spain round trip in September during a doping test with an inadmissibly high concentration of the asthma drug salbutamol. This was officially announced by the World Cycling Federation (UCI) last week. The B-sample confirmed the result of the A-sample. The UCI initially refrained from a suspension in accordance with the rules.
