MLB: Yu Darvish about to join Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs have met with an ex-pitcher of the Los Angeles Dodgers. I want Yu Darvish to join manager Joe Maddon’s team. The Free Agent spoke of “very good talks”on Monday.

Darvish confirmed on Twitter that there were reports of a meeting with President of Baseball Operations, Theo Epstein, and General Manager Jed Hoyer in Dallas. It was interesting that Darvish deliberately chose not to have a translator at the meetings:”I wanted to put myself in a challenging situation as far as my English was concerned.”

The 31-year-old is one of the hottest pitchers on the free agency market in this off-season. However, the Cubs are filling gaps in their squad and have already recruited starters Tyler Chatwood and Closer Brandon Morrow as well as Steve Cishek.

Darvish recorded a 10-12 record last season with an ERA of 3.86. In the World Series he lost both games with the Los Angeles Dodgers in which he was on the Mound as a starter.
