The Carolina Panthers 10-4 are expected to miss Thomas Davis in the season-end sprint. The linebacker was suspended for two games by the NFL after an unfair hit in the game against the Green Bay Packers. The action had caused a discussion of the players on the social media after the game.
Davis blocked Adams with a helmet-to-helmet hit after an interception by Aaron Rodgers in the third quarter. The receiver could not defend itself in this situation, as he paid attention to the ball and not to the hurrying Davis. Adams had to leave the game with a concussion.
After the game, Adams said on Twitter, expressing his resentment:”I’ll never be able to understand it. The game is dangerous enough and yet there are Pro Bowlers who run Head Hunting and claim that they “didn’t want to hurt you”.
For Adams, this was his third concussion in the last two years. Davis apologized by replying to Adams’ tweet:”I understand your frustration and apologize for the hit. I didn’t mean to hurt you at all. First and foremost, I just wanted to bet a block. I respect you as a player. I made a mistake,”says Davis.
Panthers’ head coach Ron Riveira expressed surprise at the two-game suspension and expected Davis to object. Riveira also explained that the season’s final spurt would be very complicated without Davis, since the defensive side has already been decimated by Shaq Thompson’s injury.
