Cycling: Gown and Bird “Cyclist of the Year”

Top sprinter Marcel Kittel and the two-time track cycling Olympic champion Kristina Vogel are the “Cyclists of the Year 2017”. Both were voted by a large majority of readers of the trade journal RadSport. It was the third award for Kittel and the fourth for Vogel.

“I am very pleased to have won this election, as it is recognition for my achievements in 2017, and I now know for sure that I have left my mark,”said Kittel, who won five stages in the Tour de France.

Vogel won gold in two individual disciplines and a team sprint at the World Championships in Cali/Colombia in March. At the home European Championship in Berlin, Vogel won the sprint and Keirin titles.
