Ice Hockey: DEL: Canadian Shedden new coach in Ingolstadt

Canadian Doug Shedden (56) will leave the DEL after Christmas and succeed Tommy Samuelsson, who was dismissed in November, as coach of the ERC Ingolstadt.

This was announced by the ex-champion on Friday. The former NHL pro Shedden had been working for HC Lugano in Switzerland until the beginning of January, and will receive a contract in Ingolstadt until the end of the season.

“Doug Shedden has everything we need in this situation. He has gained experience in the best leagues in Europe,”said ERC Sports Director Larry Mitchell, who had coached the team after Samuelsson’s dismissal and is now once again focusing on his management responsibilities. Ingolstadt is lagging behind expectations in the current DEL season and could miss the play-offs.
