Ski Alpin: Tomba: Stenmark record for Hirscher attainable

The Italian skiing legend Alberto Tomba has praised Austria’s superstar Marcel Hirscher:”Congratulations. In a few years’ time, he will also have arrived at Stenmark,”said the 51-year-old in an interview with Gazzetta TV before the night slalom in Madonna di Campiglio.

The Swede Ingemar Stenmark is the world cup record holder with 86 individual victories. Tomba, who first won the World Cup in Madonna 30 years ago, has two more victories than Hirscher with 50 wins. In his active time, however, he had “other opponents”, said Tomba.
