The New York Giants have had a devastating season, with injuries, significant setbacks, offensive and defensive, the Manning disaster and, ultimately, the dismissal of coach Ben McAdoo. New York’s 2016 first-round pick Eli Apple seems to be increasingly isolated within the team.
Safety Landon Collins was on Tuesday openly gifted at ESPN Radio with a view to Apple:”We only have one corner that needs to grow up. We all know who that is. It’s the only player I’d exchange in our secondary. The other two (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins, d. Red.), I love these guys. They play hard and give everything.”
Afterwards, Collins gave his scathing verdict on Apple:”Our first-round pick, he’s an ulcer” It’s the next of several unsightly stories about Apple. The Cornerback was already degraded in October because it had been noticed internally with bad behavior. He also almost left the team facilities when he was criticized in a film session.
Apple was also banned from the bank during the Arizona Cardinals bankruptcy on Sunday and did not play a single defensive snap. The week before, he had completed 60 of 67 defensive snaps against Philly.
The origin of Collins’ rage is also publicly documented: The Safety had stated a few weeks ago that he had tried a lot to encourage Apple – and the young Cornerback told media representatives that Collins did not speak to him at all.
