The No-Calls at the actions of Kevin Durant against LeBron James at the Christmas Games are still making waves. After the league had already confessed to the wrong decisions, LeBron James once again commented. Not the mistakes per se, but the referees’ behaviour was against him.
In the crunchtime of the finals rematch between the Warriors and Cavaliers, the referees had not punished Durant’s three fouls against LeBron, triggering discussions. LeBron James spoke about it again, stressing that the errors themselves were not the problem.
“The worst thing for me about it is that I go to the referee and talk to them – and they tell me’ that was nothing, no foul'”, James explained,”So I go and say,’ Didn’t you see that?’ And they say,’ It wasn’t a foul. I don’t understand. You can tell me what it’s like that they were wrong or missed it. None of this would be a problem.”
James continues:”But if they stand at the baseline and have a clear view of the action and don’t whistle, if you get hit several times and then say that these were not fouls, then it’s frustrating.”
Also for discussion was the fact that the Refs watched one of the actions in the video replay, where the fouls were clearly visible. However, it was only a question of who touched the ball last time after it was thrown out. Fouls may not be added or removed retrospectively.
When asked to change this procedure, LeBron said,”I think so, yes.”
