Ice Hockey: Nations Cup: Germany defeats Sweden at the start

The German ice hockey women missed their opening victory in Group A at the Nations Cup. In the Bavarian city of Füssen, hosts Sweden were beaten 0:3 (0:1,0:1,0:1,0:1). By noon on Wednesday, Finland had beaten the Canadians in Group B by 3-2 (1-0,1-2,1-0).

The German women can only reach the final if Sweden loses their second match against Switzerland (Thursday/18.30 hrs). At the end of the group stage, Germany will meet Switzerland on Friday at 6.30 pm. The Finns lead their group ahead of Russia, which is also without a game.

The tournament is an important test for the ice hockey women before the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang (9th place). till 25. February), for which Germany is the only participant not qualified. Last year, the Germans took fourth place in the Nations Cup.
