NBA: Steve Kerr and Dwane Casey are coaches of the month in December

Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors (East) and Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors (West) were awarded by the League to the Coaches of the Month in their conference.

Casey led the Raptors to a 11-3 record in December. Toronto remained unbeaten in six games at home. The Raptors have now won 12 games in a row at the Air Canada Centre, setting the franchise record. Toronto scored an average of 8.6 points more than their opponent in the 14 games in December. Only Golden State was better in this category in December (9.3 points).

Accordingly, the Warriors in Kerr also provide the coach of the month in the West. Kerr led the Dubs to 13-2, although Stephen Curry missed eleven games due to an ankle injury. The Warriors have now been unbeaten abroad for eight games.

The other candidates for the award included Fred Hoiberg (Chicago Bulls), Ty Lue (Cleveland Cavaliers), Gregg Popovich (San Antonio Spurs) and Billy Donovan (Oklahoma City Thunder).
