Former international Stefan Kretzschmar has complained about the lack of star quality of the German top handballers.

“We haven’t produced a new hero in years,”he told the magazine Der Spiegel:”We have pretty boys for whom girls love Instagram. But we’re short of guys with the stuff to be superstars.”

The national players, who will play in Croatia at the upcoming European Championships (12. till 28. January) want to defend their title, are quite cool guys,”but not casually in front of the camera,”Kretzschmar said.
