Willy Hernangomez last fell completely out of rotation at the New York Knicks. Now, according to ESPN, some teams seem to have made enquiries in the Big Apple.
After his rookie season, Hernangomez, 23, was actually regarded as the building block of the future for the Knicks – 8.2 points and 7 rebounds on average he had played in 2016/17 in just 18 minutes per game. But this season he hardly has a chance to win. In 13 of the last 16 games of the Knicks he was not used at all.
At the Knicks, Enes Kanter and Kyle O’ Quinn are currently sharing the minutes on the center position, with Joakim Noah in the squad – and Kristap’s Porzingis is also sometimes used on the fifth. According to the report, the other teams therefore assume that New York will be ready for the Trade Deadline on 8 December. February will try to get rid of a Big Man. Due to its age, Hernangomez is likely to have more trade value than the other centers.
Meanwhile, Kanter recently emphasized that he would prefer to end his career with the Knicks. The Turk had only arrived from Oklahoma City by trade in the summer, and now he said:”You can see that you don’t want to play for anyone else when you’re with the Knicks. Here you have everything you need. This is the place.”
Kanter has an option of $18.4 million in the coming season. Kanter said, however, that he had not yet decided whether he would draw them.
