Ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin has continued her impressive winning streak thanks to a furious second run at the World Cup slalom in Flachau/Austria. The 22-year-old American won by 0.94 seconds ahead of Bernadette Schild from Austria, who was still 0.37 seconds ahead of the big favourite after the first round. Frida Hansdotter from Sweden finished third (+1.43 seconds).
For Shiffrin, it was 41. World Cup victory, the fifth within nine days and the eighth in the past nine races. In return, she received the record prize money of 67,000 euros at the most lucrative women’s race of the season.
Best German in front of 15,000 spectators at the “Hermann Maier World Cup track” was Christina Geiger (Oberstdorf), who in the second run from eleventh to 14th place. Rank dropped back. She was directly in front of her team mate Marina Wallner (Inzell), who moved from 23. on the 15th. Space improved.
Lena Dürr (Germering), who could not confirm sixth place in the first slalom of the season in Levi/Finland with the exception of the parallel slalom in Oslo (5th) in the remaining races, dropped out on the seventh goal in the first run.
