Ski Alpin: Skiing season for ÖSV athlete Roland Leitinger over to Kreuzbandriss

The season for giant slalom world champion Roland Leitinger, which has not been very successful so far, has come to an end.

On Thursday, during free skiing on the Reiteralm, the Salzburg resident suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament in his right knee and thus also dropped out for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (South Korea) in February.

“There is no right time for an injury, but this is incredibly bitter,”said Leitinger in an initial statement. Already in 2011, Leitinger had a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee. The 26-year-old is still undergoing surgery by ÖSV doctor Christian Fink on the (today’ s) Thursday evening in Innsbruck.
