After some players were critical of the referees’ performances this season, Commissioner Adam Silver has now also expressed his views on the matter. On the fringes of the London Games, Silver wished that an exchange between the fronts would take place around the All Star Game, even if there was no problem at all. He excludes higher fines.
The topic was boiling after stars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant or Draymond Green were thrown out of games. After ejections, several players complained that several referees had personal problems with them.
Silver therefore endorsed the suggestion that both sides meet in Los Angeles in February when the All Star Game takes place there. However, Silver also said that he did not believe that the relationship between referees and players had deteriorated.
“I listened to both sides,”said Silver,”Even though this issue is getting a lot of attention, we looked at it and found that there were no more technical fouls and ejections,” a suggestion was that the league should raise the fines for ejections.
Silver doesn’t believe in an effect:”It’s only symbolic value, as rich as the players are,” the Commissioner emphasized once again that it’s only human if the players in the field show emotions,”it’s a problem that can be solved and we can improve it. Higher fines are not included.”
