LaMarcus Aldridge was a foreign body at the San Antonio Spurs last season. Coach Gregg Popovich now revealed that LMA asked for a trade this summer. That made the coach pensive.
Aldridge plays the best season so far in the Spurs jersey. The Power Forward is now used differently. Pop told ESPN that he would have been thinking about talking to Aldridge in the summer when LMA revealed that he wanted to be traded,”No one has ever told me anything like that,”Pop explained.
“In 20 years, no player has ever come to me and said something like that:’ I don’t like it here. I have no confidence in myself. I don’t know if I’m wanted here. According to Pop, these were the words Aldridge told the coach legend during a conversation in the summer.
Meanwhile, the two of them can laugh about it and Popovich continued:”We still had some food and I told him that I would like to trade him. Give me Kevin Durant and I’ll drive you to the airport, get you on the plane and place you” Such jokes relaxed the situation and killed Aldridge, who surprisingly prolonged the Alamo River before the season and is now under contract until 2021.
The big one thanked him with strong performances and was extremely important for the Spurs, because Kawhi Leonard missed most of the season because of injuries. LMA has hitherto played 22.6 points and 8.7 rebounds in 33.8 minutes per match, hitting almost half of his throwing attempts out of the field (49.6 percent).
