Golf star Rory McIlroy has been suffering from heart problems for some time. The former world number one from Northern Ireland told the British daily Daily Telegraph.

The 28-year-old doesn’t worry so much.”I just have to stay fit at the moment. But I was going to do that anyway,”said McIlroy.

“I have a flat T-wave and have an echocardiogram every six months and an MRI scan once a year,”said the four-time Major Winner.

The cause of the disease was a viral infection that he caught 18 months ago in China. He had a thickening and scar tissue on his left ventricle.

McIlroy had married his fiancée Erica Stoll in April – three years after she left Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki.
