Cross-country skiing: Ringwald/Kolb fourth in Dresden

The German cross-country skiers Sandra Ringwald (Schonach) and Hanna Kolb (Buchenberg) missed the hoped for podium finish at the World Cup in Dresden.

The duo finished fourth on Sunday in the team sprint on the banks of the Elbe (2.11 seconds back). Victory was won by the Swedes Ida Ingemarsdotter and Maja Dahlqvist (13:33.44 minutes) ahead of their wives Hanna Falk and Stina Nilsson (0.16).

The second German team consisting of Elisabeth Schicho (Schliersee) and Katharina Hennig (Oberwiesenthal) came in sixth place (4.62). Meanwhile, the German athletes played no role in the men’s event.

Sebastian Eisenlauer (Sonthofen) and Thomas Bing (Rhön) were eliminated in the semi-finals, as were Janosch Brugger (Schluchsee) and Lukas Groß (Schwarzenberg).

Sprint World Champion Federico Pellegrino and his partner Dietmar Nöckler were at the top of the men’s podium. The team landed 1.93 seconds ahead of the favourite Norwegians Johannes Hösflot Kläbo and Kasper Stadaas, who finished fifth.
