NBA: Media: Pelicans sign a contract with James

The New Orleans Pelicans seem to have struck again after DeAndre Liggins’ engagement. According to media reports, the Pels will sign Mike James. The Guard had been released by the Phoenix Suns in December.

According to Shams Charania (Yahoo Sports), James will sign a two-way contract in the Big Easy. The Pelicans are scheduling the 27-year-old for the NBA, which means that James will not be used in the G-League.

James had already signed a two-way contract in Phoenix and convinced in 32 games with 10.4 points and 3.8 assists on average. The Suns rewarded this and turned the working paper into a real contract, but fired James shortly after he dropped out of the press.

The Pelicans hope that James will give them more depth in the Guard rotation and a few offensive impulses from the bank. With a record of 21-20, New Orleans is fully committed to the battle for the last playoff places of the Western Conference.
